SEATTLE (AP) — Natural-gas powered Pierce Transit buses are refueling at a Sea-Tac Airport station because of the explosion and fire that destroyed the compressed natural gas station at the agency’s bus yard in Lakewood.
Agency spokesman Lind Simonsen told The News Tribune that a few buses missed runs Tuesday morning, but no routes were shut down as a result of Monday’s fire.
Pierce Transit has more than 250 buses that run on natural gas. Each bus can go 500 miles on a tank.
Simonsen says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
