The owners of a McDonald’s franchise that was destroyed by a July fire are ready to rebuild the restaurant and will hold a public ground-breaking ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday.

The event will commemorate construction on the $2 million restaurant, being rebuilt atop the site of the former venue at 2110 E. Fourth Plain Blvd. It will be developed by Matt and Val Hadwin, co-owners of North Star Restaurants Inc.

The Hadwins are inviting neighboring residents to attend, along with special guests including Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt and Ronald McDonald, according to Anna Pickel, North Star’s marketing coordinator. North Star owns and operates 14 McDonald’s restaurants in Southwest Washington.
