INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Michael Phelps plans to swim in five races at the Indianapolis Grand Prix this week.
The 14-time Olympic gold medalist is set to compete with Ryan Lochte in the 200-meter freestyle and 100 butterfly events Thursday at the Indiana University Natatorium. Phelps set a world record in the 100 butterfly at the U.S. national championships in 2009 in Indianapolis and has since bettered the mark.
He also is expected to swim Friday in the 200 butterfly, another event in which he holds the world record.
Phelps and Lochte are to compete twice more on Saturday: in the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle. Lochte holds the world record in the 200IM.
