INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels has called on the state’s top election official to step down until voter fraud and other charges against him are resolved.

Special prosecutor John Dowd says Republican Secretary of State Charlie White was indicted by a grand jury Thursday on three counts of voter fraud and two counts of perjury for listing his ex-wife’s home in Fishers when voting in the May primary instead of his actual address.

White also faces a theft charge for allegedly remaining on and collecting a salary from the Fishers town council after moving out of his council district. And he faces a financial fraud charge for allegedly lying under oath about his address on a home loan.
