COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Skate America is returning to California with Ontario being chosen to host this year’s U.S. stop in figure skating’s Grand Prix series.

U.S. Figure Skating said Thursday that the competition will be held Oct. 21-23 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, which is about 40 miles east of Los Angeles.

The first of six Grand Prix events will draw skaters from around the world. The other Grand Prix events are Skate Canada in Mississauga, Ontario; Cup of China in Beijing; NHK Trophy in Sapporo, Japan; Trophee Eric Bompard in Paris; and the Rostelecom Cup in Moscow.

This is the second time Skate America has been held in California, with Oakland hosting the event in 1991. Skate America was in Portland, Ore., last year.
