RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Jawan Carter scored 17 points and Delaware held off Northeastern 60-58 Friday night in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

The seventh-seeded Blue Hens (14-16) will face No. 2 seed Old Dominion on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

In a game with nine lead changes, Delaware trailed 54-51 with 3:52 left, then pulled ahead on back-to-back 3-pointers by Brian Johnson and Devon Saddler, the CAA Rookie of the Year.

The 10th-seeded Huskies (11-20) got to 59-58 on two Vinny Lima free throws with 18 seconds left, then Carter, who had made 37 straight free throws, was 1 of 2 from the line.

After Carter missed two foul shots with 9 seconds left, Chaisson Allen rebounded for Northeastern, but turned it over.

Jonathan Lee scored 16 points to lead the Huskies, who missed the CAA quarterfinals for the first time since joining the league in 2005.
