Miller leads Furman past Samford 61-48

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Senior guard Jordan Miller scored 23 points to lead Furman to a 61-48 win over Samford in the first round of the Southern Conference tournament Friday night.

Brandon Seberumbi had 10 points for the Paladins (21-9), who will face Chattanooga (16-15) in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Freshman Drew Windler led the Bulldogs (12-19) with 10 points.

Furman held Samford to six free throws and no field goals for a span of 10:50 in the first half, during which it extended its lead to 28-10.

The Paladins led 32-18 at halftime after making 5 of 12 shots from the 3-point line, outrebounding Samford 19-7 and limiting the Bulldogs to four field goals.

Samford pulled within nine points with 8 minutes to play but got no closer and hit just 4 of 17 3-pointers (23.5 percent) in the game.
