Nytra wins 60-meter hurdles at Euro indoors

PARIS (AP) — Carolin Nytra of Germany won the 60-meter hurdles at the European indoor championships on Friday.

Nytra held off the strong finish of Britain’s Tiffany Ofili, clocking a European season’s best of 7.80 seconds. Ofili recorded the same time. Favorite Christina Vukicevic of Norway took bronze in 7.83.

Ralf Bartels took the gold in the shot put. The two-time world bronze medalist won in his fourth attempt at 21.16 meters, the best European mark this season.

David Storl of Germany took silver with 20.75 ahead of Maksim Sidorov of Russia.

Antoinette Nana Djimou Ida of France won the pentathlon title with a total of 4,723 points.
