Vancouver — Washington and Oregon state transportation agencies like a composite deck truss design rather than cable-stay or tied-arch designs for a new Interstate 5 bridge across the Columbia River.

Now, they want to know what you think.

The two state transportation departments plan to deliver a final recommendation by the middle of the month to Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire and Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber.

The agencies will consider public comments received by March 13.

The public can review and comment on the bridge type recommendation by e-mail at Sec.Hammond@columbiarivercrossing.org, Dir.Garrett@columbiarivercrossing.org or feedback@columbiarivercrossing.org; by mail at Columbia River Crossing, 700 Washington St., Suite 300, Vancouver, WA 98660; or attend two listening sessions Thursday.

The first session will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the Portland Expo Center, Hall D, 2060 N. Marine Drive in Portland. The second will be 6 to 8 p.m. at the Washington Department of Transportation, 11018 N.E. 51st Circle in Vancouver.
