NJIT hits 16 3s in 78-46 win over Chicago State

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Jheryl Wilson scored 19 points and Isaiah Wilkerson added 17 as New Jersey Institute of Technology set a Division I school record with 16 3-pointers in a 78-46 rout of Chicago State on Saturday.

The Highlanders (15-14, 9-3 Great West Conference) clinched sole possession of second place in the league in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Wilkerson was 5 of 7 from beyond the arc, Wilson 4 of 6 and Arjun Ohir 4 of 7 off the bench for NJIT, which made 16 of 32 3-pointers.

The Highlanders shot 45.3 percent from the field (29 of 64) while holding the Cougars to 26.9 percent (14 of 52).

On Jan. 22, NJIT had to score the last seven points of the game to pull out an 86-83 win over Chicago State. This time, the Highlanders led 43-21 at halftime and by as many as 37.

Carl Montgomery scored 15 to lead the Cougars (6-25, 3-9), who have lost eight straight and 11 of 12.
