College heads-up for high school juniors

Vancouver — Skyview High School hosts a special event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday aimed at current Vancouver School District high school juniors, showing them the ropes to thrive during a hectic senior year.

Information on what to expect for senior year will be presented for juniors and their parents. Topics include applying for colleges and scholarships, and next steps — plus, senior year requirements, such as the graduation application and the culminating project.

As for crucial college board tests, the advice is to take the exams while still a junior in spring, rather than wait until the next autumn.

The information session starts at 7 p.m. in the Skyview High auditorium, 1300 N.W. 139th St.

A vendor fair will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the school commons. Vendors will include photographers, class ring companies, technical schools, and colleges.

Admission is free and is open to all Vancouver Public School students and families.
