ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — The International Tennis Federation says Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic set a world record with a 156 mph serve Saturday during a Davis Cup doubles match against Germany.

Karlovic surpassed the mark of 155 mph that Andy Roddick set in the Davis Cup tie against Belarus in Charleston in 2004.

Karlovic and Ivan Dodig lost the doubles against Christopher Kas and Philipp Petzschner of Germany 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. Germany leads the Davis Cup first-round series 2-1.
