Wolters leads South Dakota State past IPFW 85-75

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Nate Wolters scored 30 points and Dale Moss added 21 as South Dakota State beat IPFW 85-75 in the first round of the Summit League tournament Sunday night.

Clint Sargent had 14 points for the fifth-seeded Jackrabbits (19-11), who will play No. 1 seed Oakland, Mich., in the semifinals on Monday.

Frank Gaines finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds for the fourth-seeded Mastodons (18-12), and Ben Botts and Trey McCorkle each added 16 points.

After trailing by 20 in the first half, IPFW rallied in the second by shooting 57.1 percent. The Mastodons cut the gap to four on three occasions, but South Dakota State didn’t let them get any closer.

After Jason Smeathers capped a 6-0 run to make it 79-75 with 24 seconds left, the Jackrabbits went 6 for 6 from the foul line to secure the win.

South Dakota State led 41-21 with 3:55 left in the first half.
