A large outbuilding was destroyed by fire Monday morning at a home near Yacolt.

Fire District 13 crews were called to 30309 N.E. 271st Ave. about 10:30 a.m. after a neighbor spotted the fire.

Fire Chief Ben Peeler said the first units arrived to find a 1,500-square-foot metal building engulfed in flames and heavy smoke. A live power line was already down.

Clark County Fire District 3 and Fire District 10 sent mutual aid.

The fire was controlled in about an hour, and the last units left the scene at 2:29 p.m.

The building and its contents were a total loss, Peeler said in a news release.

The county fire marshal will attempt to determine what started the fire, Peeler said.
