COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Jury selection is scheduled to begin in the federal murder-for-hire trial of a former Aryan Nations attorney in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

A pool of 70 jurors will be called Monday.

Edgar Steele is charged with hiring a man to kill his wife. Steele contends he is the victim of a government conspiracy because of his unpopular views and writings.

The 65-year-old Steele is also charged with use of explosive materials to commit a federal felony, possession of a destructive device in relation to a crime of violence, and tampering with a victim. His wife, Cyndi Steele, believes her husband is innocent of the charges and has stood beside him.
