WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — Former Chicago Bears player Shaun Gayle has testified at the trial of a woman accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend.

Gayle took the stand Tuesday at the trial of 43-year-old Marni Yang of Chicago, who is accused of shooting Rhoni Reuter of Deerfield in October 2007, killing her and her unborn child. Gayle was a member of the Bears 1985 Super Bowl team.

Gayle testified that he met Yang in 2005 and the two had a business relationship that turned sexual. He said he had sex with Yang at his home the night before Reuter’s killing.

Yang has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and intentional homicide of an unborn child.

Prosecutors described the killing as “cold, calculated and premeditated.” Defense attorneys argue investigators never considered other suspects.
