LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — The Weyerhaeuser pulp mill at Longview spilled about 20 pounds of bleach into the Columbia River.

The company reported the spill Sunday to the state Ecology Department.

Department spokesman Marc Crooks told The Daily News the mill was shut down for annual maintenance at the time 2,000 gallons of sodium dichromate spilled, and most was caught in the mill’s treatment system. He didn’t expect to see any environmental harm from the amount that reached the river.
