UC Riverside wins 83-65 in Big West first round

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Tre’Shonti Nottingham scored 22 points to lead UC Riverside to an 83-65 victory over Long Beach State on Tuesday night in the first round of the Big West tournament.

The third-seeded Highlanders (19-11) advanced to the semifinals in Anaheim, Calif., where they are scheduled to play fourth-seeded UC Davis (22-8) on Friday.

The Highlanders pulled ahead for good midway through the first half and led by as many as 29 points in the second.

Nottingham made 6 of 12 shots from the field and led the game from the free-throw line, hitting 9 of 10.

Alyssa Morris added 20 points and Rhaya Neabors 16 for UC Riverside. Morris and Neabors each made four 3-pointers.

Melanie Lisnock led the sixth-seeded 49ers (8-23) with 16 points while Courtney Jacob added 15 and Ella Clark 10.
