An 86-year-old Orchards area man is asking for help locating his six pound maltese Teddy, who went missing Tuesday morning.

Gordon Luce’s partner Maureen Casteel called The Columbian to share information about the missing all white and mostly toothless 14-year-old.

She said Luce is moving gingerly since shoulder surgery three weeks ago. Luce was outside Casteel’s unit in Country Meadows Mobile Park, 11005 Northeast 76th Street, with Teddy at about 9:30 a.m. when he called in and asked her to come get the dog.

She said she was cooking something and needed to wash the food from her hands.

“By the time I went outside, he was gone,” Casteel, 76, said.

Teddy, Casteel said, is well known around the mobile park where she lives. “We’ve never had anything like that happen here,” she said. “Someone had to have picked him up.”

Signs have been posted on area mailboxes and a nearby Safeway grocery store. Luce and Teddy have been together since the dog was born.

“You know how it is with seniors and their dogs,” Casteel said. “He worries about him.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 360-901-4452 or 360-896-7473.
