Ava K. wins Big A’s Proud Puppy Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Ava K. remained unbeaten, rolling to a three-length victory Friday in the $60,000 Proud Puppy Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct.

In her first race beyond six furlongs, Ava K. was in total command throughout with Ramon Dominguez aboard for his third win of the afternoon. She is 3 for 3, all in races restricted to horses bred in New York. Trained by Michael Hushion, Ava K. ran the a mile and 70 yards in 1:45.17 on the track rated good.

Ava K. paid $3.50, $2.50 and $2.10 as the 3-5 favorite. Hot Danger, $8.60 and $3.70, edged Midnight Visit, $2.40, by a head for the place spot.
