SELMA, Ore. (AP) — The animal control supervisor for Josephine County in southern Oregon says a recent case of hoarding animals was the worst he had ever seen.

Brad Tally told the Grants Pass Daily Courier that more than a dozen cats and 19 dogs were kept in deplorable conditions — including constant darkness that left some dogs blind.

The case was discovered after an 81-year-old woman died at her home in the town of Selma, near Grants Pass.

Animal feces was piled 3 feet deep in places and dogs appeared out of holes in the walls. Tally called it a “horror movie.”

At least four dogs were found dead in crates.
