Local fire company offers disaster training

East County Fire & Rescue is offering a four-session course to train people in disaster preparedness following the disaster in Japan.

The Community Emergency Response Team training will provide information on fire safety, light search and rescue, organization and disaster medical operations. The class costs $25, which includes all supplies and materials.

Members of CERT can provide first responders valuable assistance in the immediate aftermath of a major event. All sessions will be held at station 91, 600 Northeast 267th Avenue in Camas.

The schedule:

• Friday, April 8, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

• Saturday, April 9, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Friday, April 15, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

• Saturday, April 16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
