BOSTON (AP) — Lawyers for a man who claimed to be a member of the famous Rockefeller family says he will likely agree to return to California to fight a murder charge against him in the killing of a man more than 25 years ago.

Attorneys for Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter (GAYR’-hahrtz-ry-tur) said their client probably won’t fight extradition to California in the case.

Defense attorney Jeffrey Denner said that Gerhartsreiter insisted Wednesday that he had nothing to do with the 1985 disappearance of 27-year-old John Sohus.

Gerhartsreiter, a German national, assumed many identities, including Clark Rockefeller. He is now serving a sentence in the Boston kidnapping of his daughter.

Gerhartsreiter is charged with murdering Sohus when he was living in a guest house of a home owned by Sohus’ mother in San Marino, Calif.
