SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The director of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Marion County, or CASA, says she was fired.
Pam Sornson told the Statesman Journal she’s seeking legal counsel but declined to give any details.
The program pairs court-appointed volunteers with children in juvenile dependency cases in the Salem area. The volunteers provide reports to a judge, who determines what is best for the child.
The chairwoman of the CASA board, Irene Trent-Valencia, issued a statement thanking Sornson for her service since she was hired in 2005. But Trent-Valencia declined to give any details on why or how Sornson left the nonprofit agency.
