TOPPENISH, Wash. (AP) — The Yakama Nation plans to release the details of a major casino expansion and hotel development.

The tribe scheduled an announcement for Thursday morning at its existing casino in Toppenish, about 20 miles south of Yakima in central Washington.

Tribal council chairman Harry Smiskin says market analysis has shown the venture could add income to the tribe and that there is an untapped market for their casino.

Across the Columbia River, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation are working on a $67 million project of their own to add more casino space, a Cineplex and high-rise hotel.
