SEATTLE (AP) — A teacher who taught in Seattle, Renton and Kent school districts has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old student in 2010.

Taryn M. Fairbanks, 34, faces six months in jail after pleading guilty Friday to first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor, which is a felony. Seattlepi.com reports Fairbanks will be sentenced on April 8.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend that Fairbanks serve six months in King County work release. Prosecutors also plan to recommend that 30 days of confinement be converted to 240 hours of community service.

Fairbanks will be giving up her teaching license. She will have to register as a sex offender and get treatment.

She taught English and was the adviser to the student newspaper at Garfield from September 2006 to June 2010. She moved to Las Vegas in July 2010.
