BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates say starter Brad Lincoln should be fine after being hit by a line drive, but are being cautious with reliever Joe Beimel.

Beimel was scratched from a scheduled appearance Saturday against Boston because of soreness in his left elbow. He was shut down earlier this spring because of tightness in the elbow and has two poor outings since then.

Beimel has pitched in at least 70 games the last two years, and 60 or more in five straight seasons. He says he’s never had arm problems in the past.

Lincoln will miss his scheduled bullpen session Sunday. But the Pirates say he should be OK when the regular season begins in two weeks. He was hit near his right elbow by Jimmy Rollins’ line drive on Friday.
