PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Washington State post player DeAngelo Casto was suspended indefinitely from the basketball team after Pullman police cited him for possession of marijuana.

Casto becomes the third WSU player to be cited for marijuana possession this season. He will miss Wednesday night’s NIT quarterfinal against Northwestern in Pullman.

Pullman police say officers on foot patrol early Tuesday morning looked in a window of an apartment and saw someone rolling what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette. Police say they knocked on the door and police could smell marijuana when Casto answered.

He was cited for possession of less than 40 grams, a misdemeanor that generally results in a $250 fine and one day in jail.

Earlier this season, leading scorer Klay Thompson and point guard Reggie Moore also were suspended for one game after being cited for marijuana possession. If Washington State (21-12) beats Northwestern, they will advance to the semifinals in New York.
