SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Faster than a pizza can cool, a Salem, Ore., police officer acted on a hunch that led to arrests in a Pizza Hut robbery in nearby Marion County.

Sheriff’s spokesman Don Thomson says two men showed a silver handgun and took money from pizza shop employees late Tuesday night. The robbers fled on foot.

Minutes later, Salem police Cpl. Mike Baskett saw a Ford Explorer quickly pull to a stop behind a Mexican restaurant. KPTV says Baskett decided to stop the car after it reappeared on Market Street.

Sheriff’s spokesman Thomson says a handgun and clothing similar to that worn by the robbers were found ditched behind the Mexican restaurant.

With that evidence and statements from witnesses, all four people in the Explorer were arrested for investigation of robbery. They include two men in their 20s and two male juveniles — one just 13.
