GENEVA (AP) — FIFA President Sepp Blatter says he’s preparing a new project stressing zero tolerance of corruption and bad behavior on and off the field.
Blatter says he’ll present “something very special” at the FIFA Congress on June 1, where he’s hoping to win election for a fourth four-year term.
He says soccer needs to “fight corruption, and all cheating and discrimination.”
However, Blatter says he’s rejected requests from Swiss authorities that members of FIFA’s judicial committees should be nominated by people from outside soccer’s governing body.
Blatter also says Brazil must speed up preparations for the 2014 World Cup. He says Brazil is lagging behind where 2010 host South Africa stood three years before its tournament.
