MOSES LAKE, Wash. (AP) — Police arrested a man for investigation of murder in the death of his 88-year-old mother at the home they shared in Moses Lake.

Police say they arrested 56-year-old Jack Simmons early Monday after an anonymous call led them to the home. Dispatchers also received a call from Simmons saying his mother had passed away.

Officers found a suspicious amount of blood and believe Edna Simmons was the victim of trauma.

Police say Jack Simmons said he was home at the time of her death and offered various accounts of the circumstances.

He was booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.
