CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Miami defensive tackle Jeffrey Brown is facing a charge of sexual battery and has been suspended indefinitely from the football team.

Police in Coral Gables say Brown was charged Wednesday afternoon. The alleged incident occurred April 30.

The 6-foot-3, 297-pound Brown forced sex on an intoxicated female in her dorm room, according to the arrest affidavit. It was not immediately known if Brown has an attorney.

In a statement, the university acknowledged it “has become aware of the serious charges made against a student athlete, and he has been suspended indefinitely from the football program.” The university declined further comment.

Brown is a redshirt freshman from Evanston, Ill.
