Heritage — More than 600 Frontier Middle School students celebrated Earth Day by planting 27 trees, and numerous flowers and shrubs on the school campus. Vancouver Urban Forestry supplied the trees, landscape design, planting instruction and assistance. As part of Evergreen Public Schools’ curriculum in environmental science, populations and ecosystems, the tree planting was designed to bridge the gap between what students learn inside the classroom and the outdoors, where they can apply their knowledge. The outdoor classroom created by the students will also be a place for future students to learn from the wildlife the trees will attract and the new habitats created by insects.
