NEW YORK (AP) — President Barack Obama has dropped in on a New York City police station in lower Manhattan, continuing a tour of New York 9/11 landmarks in the wake of the U.S. commando raid that killed terror mastermind Osama bin Laden.

The stop at the downtown station came during a New York visit to honor those who died in the fiery Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center. The police station stop came after Obama had a private lunch at a Midtown fire station that lost 15 firefighters on 9/11.

Obama planned to lay a wreath at the 9/11 memorial in the financial district

The First Precinct Police Station covers the World Trade Center and the Ground Zero area. Its officers were the first on the scene on 9/11.
