TERRASSA, Spain (AP) — Scottish rookie Scott Jamieson shot a 6-under 66 to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Spanish Open on Thursday.
Playing in only his 11th European Tour event, Jamieson played almost flawlessly at El Prat Golf Club to pull ahead of Steve Webster of England, Jeev Milkha Singh of India, Romain Wattel of France and Pablo Larrazabal of Spain.
“I didn’t feel under complete control, which is not the nicest feeling in the world, but the only real blip was on the fourth,” said Jamieson, had two bogeys on the day.
Another four players trailed Jamieson by two shots with six more three strokes off the lead.
