BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have put struggling reliever Bobby Jenks on the 15-day disabled list after his right arm cramped up during a loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

The Red Sox said Thursday that Jenks (1-2) has a strained right biceps and placed him on the DL retroactive to Monday. He cramped up while warming during Boston’s 13-inning loss Wednesday.

The right-hander has a 9.35 ERA in 11 appearances this season.

Boston also placed right-handed reliever Dan Wheeler on the 15-day DL with a strained left calf. Wheeler allowed a double, home run and walked one while facing four batters during the Angels’ 5-3 win, which was interrupted for more than 2 1/2 hours because of rain.

The Red Sox called up right-hander Scott Atchison and left-hander Rich Hill from Triple-A Pawtucket.
