PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Community leaders and business owners of a traditionally African-American neighborhood in Portland will meet with Gov. John Kitzhaber to talk about their needs.
Kitzhaber will travel from a barber shop to a framing and gallery spot, finishing up at a coffee shop and bookstore Friday. He will make the rounds with the Albina Ministerial Alliance, a group that represents many of the primarily black churches in north and northeast Portland.
The alliance has criticized the Portland Police Bureau’s use-of-force policy and advocated for increased oversight.
