VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A private memorial service is scheduled Friday for five Vancouver, Wash., children who died in an April 24 fire that police say was set by their father, who also died.

The Columbian says the 2 p.m. service at Summit View Church will honor the five Dao children who died in the Easter morning blaze. They include 12-year-old Nolan; 9-year-old twins Noah and Jacob; 8-year-old Samantha and 6-year-old Nathan.

Church officials say relatives of the children’s mother, Lori Dao, asked that news media not attend.

Police say 37-year-old Tuan Dao set the fire because he was upset over financial problems and his failing marriage.

His wife and their oldest daughter, 13-year-old Alena, were not staying at the house.
