Spokane airport police carrying assault rifles

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Spokane International Airport police have upgraded their firepower.

KXLY reports officers started carrying AR-15 assault rifles this week.

Spokesman Todd Woodard says officials think it’s a prudent measure to protect employees and the traveling public.
