WILMINGTON, Mass. (AP) — Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron is expected to miss one or two games of the Eastern Conference finals with a mild concussion.
General manager Peter Chiarelli said Saturday that was “a safe assumption,” depending on when the series with the Tampa Bay Lightning starts. It can begin as early as Tuesday or as late as Saturday. The schedule will be determined once the Western Conference semifinals end.
Bergeron is Boston’s top playoff scorer with two goals and 10 assists. He was hurt early in the third period Friday night on a hit by Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux. He didn’t return to the Bruins’ 5-1 win that completed a sweep of the Flyers.
Bergeron missed the last 72 games of the 2007-08 season with a severe concussion.
