PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) — South Korean Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na will make Pyeongchang’s case to host the 2018 Winter Olympics at the IOC’s technical briefing.

The session in Lausanne, Switzerland, on May 18 is the first chance for cities to present the technical merits of their bids to the entire International Olympic Committee membership.

Kim says “it is special for me to be able to speak directly to the IOC about our unique vision for the Winter Games.”

Pyeongchang is making its third successive bid after narrow defeats for the 2010 and 2014 Olympics. It is competing against Munich, Germany, and Annecy, France.

The IOC will select the host city by secret ballot at its session July 6 in Durban, South Africa.
