TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Sean Miller has signed an extension to remain the head basketball coach at Arizona.
Mentioned as a candidate to replace Gary Williams at Maryland, Miller signed an extension late Saturday to stay in Tucson. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
Miller has guided a remarkable turnaround at Arizona, leading the Wildcats to the NCAA tournament’s West Regional final this season after they had their 25-year run in the tournament end last year.
Miller led Arizona to a 30-8 record in 2010-11, just the fourth time the program has won 30 games, and was selected Pac-10 coach of the year after guiding the Wildcats to the conference’s regular-season title in his second season in the desert.
