BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — Western Washington University has agreed to pay $135,000 to a police dispatcher who alleges she was fired in 2007 after complaining about co-workers making racist and sexist remarks.

The payment settles a lawsuit Shannon M. O’Dwyer filed against the university in 2009.

A judgment against the university was entered in court in April.

O’Dwyer alleged Western violated state whistle-blower protection laws when she was fired four months into the job.

Western has denied almost all the allegations O’Dwyer made in her lawsuit.
