PRAGUE (AP) — World record holder Usain Bolt says he will run in the 100-meter race at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava later this month.
The Jamaican sprinter, who also holds the world record at 200, had said in March he would compete in the 50th edition of the event in the eastern Czech city on May 31, but did not specify the distance.
But now he says: “I will run the 100 meters in Ostrava this year.”
The Jamaican will race for the fifth time at the meet, which is part of the new IAAF World Challenge series, and for a second time over 200. He won in a wind-aided 9.77 seconds in 2009.
In a statement, Bolt says he hopes “the wind and the weather conditions are favorable this year.”
