NEW YORK (AP) — As the NFL lockout drags toward a third month, some groups are losing out more than others — namely rookies and teams with new coaches.
Former NFL MVP Rich Gannon, who now has a show on Sirius NFL Radio and also is an analyst for CBS, says assistant coaches are telling him that if the labor fight lasts until June, rookies won’t be much use this season.
In today’s game, teams do a lot of work with rookies in minicamps and offseason workouts that normally would be happening now.
Teams such as Carolina and Oakland also have it tough because there’s been no time for their new coaches to meet players and install their systems.
