Battle Ground council member and deputy mayor Phil Haberthur will seek a second term, he said Wednesday.

Haberthur was appointed to the council in March 2008 to finish out another member’s term. His term ends Dec. 31.

In a prepared statement, Haberthur listed his priorities as keeping taxes low, retention and recruitment of family-wage jobs in the region and keeping core city services intact.

Haberthur highlighted several achievements the city has accomplished during his council tenure. Among those he cited were the opening of the Battle Ground Community Center, the completion of the Interstate 5 interchange and the development of a public-private partnership that will brings jobs along Scotton Way and state Highway 503.
