Current Camas City Councilman Scott Higgins officially announced Thursday that he plans to run for election to the mayor’s seat in the fall.
Higgins, who has been on the council for 10 years and is currently mayor pro-tem, makes the announcement following the recent decision by current Mayor Paul Dennis to resign to become the economic development director of the newly formed Camas-Washougal Economic Development Association.
As mayor pro-tem, Higgins said in a press release that he would be assuming the daily duties of mayor once the position is officially vacated by Dennis.
Higgins, married with two children, has lived in the local community for more than 30 years. He said he believes he is prepared to assume the duties of mayor.
