NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Yankees selected reliever Amaury Sanit’s contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre amid a series of moves before Thursday night’s game against Kansas City.
The Yankees also sent infielder Ramiro Pena to Triple-A and designated right-handed reliever Jess Todd for assignment. New York claimed Todd off waivers from Cleveland only days ago.
Sanit, a 31-year-old from Cuba, was suspended for 50 games for violating the minor league drug program last season. The right-hander was 2-0 with a 4.96 ERA at Triple-A this season, striking out 24 against six walks in 16 innings.
Pena was recalled on Friday but didn’t appear in a big league game.
