Experiences from someone who has been in the trenches keeping a family business going for 36 years!

  • Showtime! Being in business is like putting on a Broadway that never closes! Day after day, the show has to evolve, remain full of enthusiasm

    and be timeless.

  • Trust your instincts. When you see a successful business, you know that someone, at some time, made a courageous decision. Know when to ‘make your move’ and how to listen to your instincts.
  • Surround yourself with the most talented people you can find. Hire people who love what they do.
  • Establish an identity that makes you stand out from the other businesses in your industry.
  • All companies have a story. The most successful companies tell theirs again and again!

Gayle Beacock is co-owner of Beacock Music Company, a fixture in Vancouver since 1976.
