Letter: Bin Laden is dead; focus on next guy

First things first: I am thrilled that Osama bin Laden is dead.

I am glad he saw his executioners face to face, I am glad he had time to think about what was about to happen, and I can only hope he actually went out as reported, like a sniveling coward, hiding behind his wife.

Further, I don’t care if he had come out hands up, dressed in a loincloth, it was in our national interests for him to be dead. Call it resistance, call it an execution, call it whatever you want, I don’t care.

That said, in the military you are taught to be uncompromising with every last blow you strike at the enemy, but be humble in victory.

The moment that wretched being was shot dead, the game changed. He was no longer a part of it, and because we are Americans, we buried him as per his religion required. Desecrating his body or publishing his picture isn’t what we do.

We need to now focus on the next guy on the list.
